Scrap the Girls May challenge

Title: Girly Girly

This was Jackie when she attended kindy. Every day she would put all these tutu's on and the pink hat and play in the cubby.  Often as not the teachers would put the tutu's aside for the other kids to play with. When they finished and just left them lying around Jackie would grab them or they would give them to Jackie to wear.

I have used cut out fairy ballerina's, (Jackie did ballet), and lipsticks, which were mine and she would use them, a pink bag which Jackie use to play dress-up with at home.
A cut out photo strip because I was always taking photo's of her, flowers and a butterfly. All girly girly stuff.

Title: Special Bond

These pictures represent Jackie and Ness growing up together. Jackie and I always told ness there is nothing you can't do.  Give it a go, I always told both girls that even if you failed you always learnt something along they way so there is no failure.
Ness is a special needs girl, so Jackie always had it rough sometimes with people saying mean things about her baby sister. Ness didn't care because she didn't understand them. That didn't stop Jackie from protecting her and teaching her how to react to these hurtful words.

Jackie was her mentor and big sister, she would show Ness how to do things, and let her have a go. Often showing her how things are ment to look then letting Ness put her own spin on it.
Even now they both have similar interest, Real living magazine, sushi on Tuesday ooooh and pinterest, swapping idea's about how to change Nessie room around.

The poem I used was as follows:-

I don't think you will ever fully comprehend
or how you've opened my heart
how you've made my dreams come true,
to love and the wonders it can do.
quote came from, "will you ever understand"

This is what Jackie has done for her sister Ness
thank you
I have used lots of cut out hearts, dollies and flowers in the girls favourite colours. The heart that has the word LOVE is where I have done my journaling, there are three hearts. The picture of the shoe's and dress represents the girls love of dressing up when they were little.

Scrap the Boys April Challenge

Title:- My Dad,, My Star

This was a hard challenge, but here is my niece Tina's husband Scott and their three boys Hayden, Aiden and Adam.

Scott is a big part of the boys lives, teaching how to fish, going out on the family boat, hunting deer, but nothing goes to waste as it all gets brought home and put in the freezer, and how to shoot a gun. The boys are taught how to look after their guns, how to maintain them as well, its not left up to dad.

The boys summer is taken up with playing cricket which Scott coaches their team as well.
But they have done a great job, as two of the boys are in the army cadets and army reserve.
They are not just father and sons, they are mates too.

Scrap the girls- april challenge
Title:- Loves to Read

This is my daughter Jackie at the age 0f 7-8 years, her school was having a dressup as a character of a book day. From an early age Jackie loved to read, anything and everything. She dressed up as a princess, in the photo it shows her with the book divider she got for reading so many books.

Even today, Jackie loves buying and reading books. Now, she found a site where young college students upload there books for people to read and give feed back. Jackie says she has two or three young people whom she follows and raves how talented and amazing they are at writing.  So far she has read over 50 plus books online, that was within the first two weeks of finding this site.

I love this soft colour palatte, I have made a hand made flower at the bottom in the corner, bows using ribbons. Also, a handmade ballerina and hearts and stickles on the wooden letters used for the title.

Title:- Together, Create, Cherish, Journey, LOVE

This is what happens when you visit your daughter and grandbabies, and you fall asleep in your grand-daughters bed.
For the times you get asked a question when your half asleep and you cant remember saying sure no worries. This was one of those times, my grand-daughter wanted to do my makeup, this was the result. Don't I look beautiful.
I was late getting this up, but love make the gold metal flowers, stickles and ribbons.

Title: I'm a big girl now

This is my daughter ness when she was 2 1/2 years old, notice she has no shoes on, she was forever taking them off and stripping as well. We use to call her Vanessa the
un-dresser.

Ness loves lots of things, the colour purple, her Big Ted, she's had him since she was born. Loves smelly candles and dolphins in all shape and sizes,  and her purple bike as well.
In the picture you will see several teapots, as one of their happy memories was coming home from kinder and school I would have setup for afternoon tea on the porch. They would then go a get a little girlfriend and come back, I would serve them scones, jam and cream, with tea (hot chocolate) in a real teacup set.
Sometimes I would ask them to dress-up and I would pretend I was their waiter as if they were coming into a restaurant.

The best part was I could just hose down the porch and our dog Tara would finish off anything that was left.

I have use handmade cut outs of the teddy and dolphin, as wall as several handmade flowers. Bling and stickles on the flowers. Other things on the page hold a special meaning to Ness. The key to a heart (mine/dad's) and the metal bike.

This is my grandson Izaak, this is his first school photo at high school. Handsome devil, he has found new friends, new way of doing homework on-line.

Love you Izaak to the moon and stars beyond.

I have handmade the flags at the top and the stars around his photo. Also, and Image from the five nights of Freddie films that he loves, and well as thing that are used in school.

January Challenge

Title:- Scrapbook retreat

This photo was taken at one of our scrapbook retreats, we stayed in a double storey house in Cowes, Victoria, it was literally 5 minutes from the beach.
There were 7 to 8 ladies sharing the fun together. We would go op shop hopping, finding bargins garlore, often as not sharing amongst ourselves.

We would often visit the local winery to partake in wine, cheese and bickies.
The friendships formed have lasted through the years. Memories are forever remember when we get together to catch up.

I have used many elements stamping the waves, painting, as well as flowers, leaves, cut-outs and handmade flowers as well.

The photo says it all wine and scrapping couldn't get any better than this.

January challenge- AARON

I have used a totally different medium for this challenge.

My youngest grandson Aaron is obsessed with trains. When he saw what I was doing his first words were " you doing this for me", to say he was happy is an understatement.

The colours he helped me choose which was used on the train and carriage.
He loved the white smoke coming out of the stack on the engine, told me it looked cool.
In the first photo Aaron loves my swashi tapes very much. The others are him outside raking, playing bob the builder and wearing nannies bunny slippers.

This will now proudly sit on a shelf in his room. Because this is for boys only, on the other side of the photo's are a picture of his mum, older brother and sister.

January challenge- Title: Laughter, Love and Fun

These are my to daughter Ness and Jackie, I'm proud of the girls they have become, strong and independant women. Who make me very proud.

On this special day, Jackie and I had a special mother and daughter moment.

Jackies wedding was filled with much laughter and love.
With the help of a couple of balloons a lot of  jiggling there was much laughter amongst the adults.

Many things made Jackie's Wedding day a special one, the gardens then friends sharing it with us.

Every time Robyn has gone oversea's on holidays she often brings back presents for us, just little trinkets.
But most of the time mine have been scarves, the last one was from Paris, its beautiful, the word paris was all over it in creams and dark brown.

Title:- His smile says it all

What can I say these are our birthday photo's of my grandson Aaron.
We just know that every time its birthday cake time, that Aaron would do one of two things,
1. He would eat it with his hands, don't worry about the mess,

2. He would face plant his face in his cake, which would make us all groan and laugh.

the last two cakes were made by my daughter Jackie, the first computer keyboard was made by my nephews wife and he made the mouse, which as you can see he loved eating.
The others were green and yellow leggo blocks, and the last one was a yellow truck with licorice strips decorating it.
they were always a big hit and yummy.

I have used handmade cut out arrows, and felt train and flags as well.

This shows just some of the places I have lived in and around Sydney. I have lived in Bondi when I was first married, then I lived in Nowra, then moved to just outside of Liverpool, then we moved back to Coogee.
Its was great when my family visited from Victoria. We would show them around the Blue Mountains, for the beautiful gardens and our favourite thing was the scenic railway.

Then my girls and I would visit Adelaide Zoo it helped them think of it as a holiday rather than all the doctors we came to see for vanessa, my youngest daughter. our favourite exhibit was the monkey's, they girls thought they were funny.

These were just some of the places we lived and visited why living in New South Wales.

September challenge:-

 Title: FOOD FIGHT

This is when my daughter Jackie and three grandchildren came over for a visit and I made my roast lamb and veggies. As we sat down for tea the three kids were in a grumpy mood, so towards the end of the tea I decided to throw a food fight. We all got into, I throw smash spuds and peas at the kids. Izaak them decided to face plant in his plate, hence the gravy all over his face. Hana had gravy and pea's with the action shot of Aaron with spuds and pea's falling off his face, after he too face planted in his tea.

There was much laughter and cleaning going on after that, it put them all in a good mood. Although they were concerned with the mess. As I started it I just told them everything can be cleaned so don't worry about it. The mess was worth it and with us all helping it didn't take that long to clear it all away.

 Title: My Nan

This is my nan Margaret Gillespie, she was my dad's mum who lived with us until she passed away.

I can always remember her wearing this outfit with her hat, she was of the old school that older girls wore hats and a dress, and us younger one's in a nice dress and shoe's.
The boys always wore a clean shirt with either shorts or trousers. My mum would often start to cook our roast dinner before going to church. Either mum or nan would leave early to put the finishing touches to our roast lunch.
This is just one memory I have on my nan.

I have used scalloped ribbon, papers and bling, along with some dried flowers and other things that remind me of memories of my nan. Her old fashion house key, her beside clock and flowers, my nan loved flowers.

Title Five for Kids

Here I am at a charity fundraiser for our local hospital children's ward.
In this photo I was strutting my stuff on the catwalk. For my effort I received a bottle of bubbly and a mention on the radio the next day, which I didn't know about until several people asked me "did you go out last night:. I couldn't stop laughing it was so funny. As I work at the hospital and I think I'm the only jean they knew.

This even was held on the night that the local dogs were running. So during the night a little tipsy I decided to take a charity tin and walk around the venue asking the patrons to give for the kids, I think I raise about $40 is was for a very good cause.  There was free taro card readings and also a free photo booth, as you can see my journal tag is rather different. lol my two girl-friends and I made good use of this booth.
A good night all around and money going to a very worthy cause.

Title: Come Dream like there's no tomorrow

This is my grandson using my camera to make short stop movies, Izaak has been doing this since he was five. He actually showed me how my camera worked and how to use the movie button and how to edit the photo's. He is one clever boy, its not the first camera he has shown me how to use.
I have used photo on photo to give a sliding effect, funny it was nearly the same photo only in the small one Izaak's arm is down great effect though.

I love the colours of the mood board and have used chipboard cogs and birds on a wire, along with flowers, leaves and ribbons.
